Don't worry though there is still much to praise, we have a packed TV schedule with Big Brother, X-factor, Strictly Come Dancing, Britain's Got Talent and Britain's Got More Talent just in case you were underwhelmed by the latter. If all this reality becomes too much for you feel free to sit back and flick over to one of the shopping channels to pass your day away at tax payers expense while you wait for your take away to arrive.

The financial class who supposedly account for 25% of GDP yet create 100% of the debt and tell everyone we couldn't live without them.

The financial class who encourage debt financed takeovers , tax avoidance , reduction of competition and claim it benefits the whole country!

As for multiculturalism being a problem. More propaganda smokescreen from the billionairre media moguls. If Britain were all white do you think we woulodn't have got screwed over by the ruling class. I'm an American so I won't comment specifically about social and economic conditions in the United Kingdom. It's hard enough to understand the truth about one's own country without claiming to understand that of another.

As for what I see in the United States - you are both correct.

The unbridled greed of the Labor Unions throughout the 1950s and 60s together with the overexpansion of the welfare state created a political backlash in the United States that was eventually captured, not by Conservatives, but by the Neoconservatives who sold the manufacturers out in favor of the F.I.R.E interests. The Neocons are also defenders of maintaining the American Empire (as long as their sons don't have to be the ones getting their legs blown off).

Multiculturalism is the favored plaything of the elites in the United States.
They are fools, but not as big as the voters who allow this form of national suicide.

The United States has plenty of people to blame for the mess we find ourselves in; and they are ALL Americans.

Raz= Whilst I accept weaning dependents off the govt teat is absolutely essential the argument surrounding "rights and entitlements" seems loaded the way it is portrayed in the media. It makes out that ordinary working people who have paid taxes and national insurance all their lives are suddenly wrong/immoral to expect to be looked after in retirement or when they can no longer contribute as they may have when they were younger. It also makes out that the word "rights" is a bad word which I find quite disturbing. Surely if rights are a bad thing then the logical step is to have them taken away from you. The words Orwellian and totalitarianism spring to mind.


To debate the issue, the rights and entitlements that bungee and yourself speak of need to be defined before we find ourselves giving up the right to free speech, demonstrate in public, vote, fair trial, etc

Manufacturing was lost long before the Neoconservatives came to power and that created a problem: how can production increase so as to feed the ever expanding welfare state? One answer offered was free trade (I assume that's what you mean by "sold out"). It's cheaper to let Chinese do the work and pay idle (or underproductive) Americans than it is to pay American labor engaged in manufacturing.

Without free trade, American beneficiaries of the welfare state would have a much lower standard of living.

The reason why they have so many people "sucking on the gov. teat" is because due to the FIRE economy over there which has devastated local businesses. This is a systemic issue and who influences if not controls the system in the UK right now? The people living on the gov. teat? No, that is the FIRE oligarchs.

The manufacturers were pissed they had to pay so much to the workers instead of taking more for themselves so they conciously lobbied the gov. and established astroturf campaigns to "reform the gov". The only problem is it worked a little too well and now they've created a monster that is not only going to ruin the country it will ultimately ruin themselves.

methinks the biggest part of the 'free trade' con was the selling of the idea that The US would become a 'brain power' nation of service-providers, ie: we'll all get rich doing each others laundry, selling each other houses and paying our 401-k 'managers' to pump-n-dump our stock portfolios and to achieve all that? well, just borrow a hundred grand for a BA degree, another 3or400 grand to buy a house to put granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances into so we can flip it, just like they show on TV, and then borrow more on HELOC to buy (lease) a mercedes and spend yer weekends on the boat
