Compelling people to do the things we think are just and correct accomplishes little for an individual man. If a man can live like he is taught by his religion, he is already a great man. But if he wishes everyone else to act as he was taught, he has lost contact with the truth of his religion.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

If I had to bet, I would bet that Bible verses mean little to Rajiv, except to the extent that they serve his ideology.

Bible verses aside, The essence of Christianity is to live like Christ did. An almost impossible task. I fail daily, how about you?

          You would lose that bet.

Win some, lose some. Sounded pretty Rules for Radicals to me.

Failure is the essence of discovery, learning and adaptation. Never make failure make you give up the effort.

I would never give up trying to live as Christ would have me live. I have never given up in anything.

My view is also much the same.

We all have something to give. But it is our choice.

I have been poor and I have been rich. I have never been so poor that there was not someone else in greater need close by. If we upgraded to a nicer range purchased at a yard sale, we knew someone who could use our old one for free because theirs just died. I have found some who might turn down a helping hand because they feel "entitled" to only the best. These are not the needy, these are the greedy. Pride is a different matter, it can be hard to swallow. A hand offered with love and from the heart will overcome pride. If you have ever needed a hand-you understand, if not, I feel sorry for you.

I might suggest buying "good used", as opposed to new, and using your savings to do some direct giving. Try it. It's fun! It feels like you are using "free money".

I believe we are all going to have to find as many ways as possible to help others when the SHTF. Call it "Anarchy Insurance".

                        My 2 cents.
Give: "Unto the least of these"

My wife and I have followed much the same path. One of the reasons we have a vegetable garden about 10 times the size we need for the 2 of us is because I have found that often someone who is uncomfortable taking money will always take some tomatoes or squash and we know a number of people near us who are having a really hard time.
