So for the last year, I've watch the canadian dollar go from being worth more than the USD at 1.01, to where it currently sits at about .91 cents to the dollar. So it's down about 10% in no time at all. Looking at the charts on yahoo finance, the Canadian dollar hasn't been this low against the USD since 2009. There seems to be something in the air. Perhaps a prelude to something more extreme

Re: Is this the beginning of a USD rampage?
It's not really a big mystery. The news on our side of the border has been all bad the last few months; Unemployment up, Trade deficit up, Housing down, Commodities down, BoC talking dovish. Meanwhile the news on the American side has been relatively good; latest jobs report aside.
Personally I think this is nothing more than the worm turning in the seven year Boom-Bust cycle of our New World Order. All the improvements in the economy and stocks has been Central bank induced fantasy; eventually reality takes over.
As I've mentioned before I'm hanging my hat on a Spring crash with the a bottom around 50% from current levels. As for the loonie; perhaps back to the .70's? I guess it all depends on how well we make out in the flight to safety during the Great depression 3.0.
