Seems like there is a lot this drumming up lately. Perhaps the tides are turning.

They're scared. These "turncoats" want to be seen as the "good guys" when the SHTF. They're just looking after themselves - just as they always have.

That's how I see it. They see the noose and want to be certain it goes onto the other guy. Eventually, I think things will come to a head and they will offer up the most vulnerable to save their hides. Cutting off a limb to save the whole.

especially in this case since Weill was one of, if not, the pime mover behind the removal of Glass-Steagall act.

This guy is an incredible douchebag.

Sitting in his office on the 46th floor of the General Motors building in Manhattan, he is surrounded by reminders of a lifetime on Wall Street. The space is breathtaking with floor-to-ceiling windows and views stretching out over Central Park. One wall is devoted to framed magazine and newspaper articles chronicling his career. A Fortune magazine clipping from 2001 declares Citi one of its “10 Most Admired Companies.”

On another wall hangs a hunk of wood — at least 4 feet wide — etched with his portrait and the words “The Shatterer of Glass-Steagall.” The memento is a reference to the repeal in 1999 of Depression-era legislation; the repeal overturned core financial regulations, allowed for the creation of Citi and helped feed the Wall Street boom.

I would go further than that. I would say that most of these guys are sociopaths.... instilled with a heavy dose of narcissism.

Too often, what our society calls "success" is really sociopathy in action.

“If we take another 10 percent of middle-class America’s income, who knows what kind of other social unrest could happen in this country and the changes that could happen to our way of life?”

“At some point, if we keep doing this, their numbers are going to keep swelling, it won’t be an Obama or a Romney. It will be a Hollande. A Chávez.”

“You’re in Palm Beach, you’re in the Hamptons, you think you’re so secure? Do you really think if you had 50,000 angry people coming across the river, you think you’re safe?”

-Jeff Greene (from this month's NY mag)
