Re: Credit crunch 2.0 for the British....

Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, near the Santa Clara Valley ( now known as the Silicon Valley ) rents are rising. Home prices are down by roughly one-third since their top in 2007/8, and most interestingly: home prices are continuing to drop by about 0.2% per month. Not only will banks not lend for homes ( unless there is like one-half down ), but homes are depreciating every month, month-in and month-out, by 0.2%.

And then, zero interest on your savings: like one-cent per month on huge balances. And not only this insult, but grocery prices are rising--- or bottle/can sizes are shrinking down to nick-knack sizes.... It would all be cute except the nick-knack sizes mean you don't eat.

Glad to see interest rates rising on credit cards and other debt. But let the yuppies and electronics wizards who came to Silicon Valley to get rich, now sell their homes even cheaper and go rent. And to think: rents are rising in this Great Recession, hence ye olde rent-treadmill once again.....

Meanwhile, the carrying-costs for home-ownership are going-up: commons fees up, maintenance up, utility costs up, property taxes up, improvement costs up, legal costs up, house insurance up, income taxes on your income up, gasoline costs now approach $5 per U.S gallon, nick-knack groceries, and... and.... and ..... something rather new in Silicon Valley: unemployment.

At the end of this Great Recession, Starving Steve might have plenty of company. But the Americans deserve this comeuppance for having elected Republicans and conservatives ( the Repukes ) to Washington, for most of the seven decades since World War II ended.
