Mike, if you're into art, check out Peter Lik. He's an Australian photographer who is pretty amazing. I recently visited his gallery in Las Vegas and bought my first piece. It's hard to be in a bad mood when you wake up to some of his work.

may I suggest a rescue dog in need from the local humane society?
if that may be too big of a commitment for you now - then taking a walk in a local park and finding some big wonderful lab or golden to say hi to and pet?
