Re: Gold going to $5,500
GOLD going $2000 plus BUT via $950 first.
WHY..
Equities wont go up on SUGAR RALLY for ever, and when they sell off ( May thru OCT 2010), GOLD will suffer contagion selling. Anything from $100 to $300 bucks..which is normal..
So DONT chase this latest daily POP up in gold.
New gold purchases are advised in bearish equity moves.
Then again if you dont care about a 20% fluctuation, ignore me.

You might be "waiting for Godot" with that strategy.Originally posted by DRumsfeld2000 View PostI hope the 20% fall is correct. My S&P short is not doing too well, although the pain is well within tolerance levels. A fall in the gold price with knock on affects in stocks would also allow me to buy more of my favourite gold company. Fingers crossed here.

jtabeb
Not sure what you mean by strategy. As regards shorting the S&P, this is based on the high PE valuations which are way overstretched. Look at what UBS said yesterday (you can find the summary). As regards gold, I have a lot of shares. Most are doing well and may well go higher short term. However, in my view the market is over valued and when/if it falls then gold shares will fall as well. I will then buy more. Seems sensible to me to not overpay. What is so wonderful about your strategy?

It is roughly like waiting for jtabeb to sell his gold and purchase some 30 year Treasury bonds instead; it could be a long wait. Most folks are good; a few aren't.

As long as we are on Beckett, I recommend passing the time with another Irish favourite [it'll ease the pain of dealing with gold price volatilityOriginally posted by ThePythonicCow View PostGoogle and Wikipedia are your friends: Waiting for Godot.
