Don't worry Raz. This is Rant and Rave.

I'm taking a global perspective, by "Here", I'm referring to everything else, not specifically Singapore. And by the way, that includes Snowden - that's why he went to HK with his 3 laptops. ;)

The anarchists know better, they distrust all governments.

    That's what I assumed also.

That makes a lot more sense and puts touchring's statement in an entirely different light. I hope he will accept my apology for the misunderstanding.

I would presume that just like 98% of the people here, he would have thought that the West were the bad guys and China was the really nice guy.

I'm stating the fact. There's a Chinese proverb, Paper can't wrap up a fire.

There's a lot of propaganda going on in the media on both sides. Most propaganda focused on China being the oppressed and feeble country which is true for the last 350 years or so - the history of China goes further than than, and omits the fact that China is an empire and probably one of the last empires still standing today.

But it turned out that going to China was a really bad move. Why should China protect the rights of Snowdon?

Thus goes the saying "The grass is always greener on the other side" or is it the "Enemy of my enemy is my friend"?

Forgive the snark, but I don't feel well and the credulity of folks on this matter is starting to frustrate me. Respectfully, please consider a look at James Bamford's Shadow Factory. Here's a review in case you don't have the time. You don't need security clearance or an asylum request to know what Snowden and the Guardian have. All you needed was $30 and an Amazon account in 2008 to buy Bamford's book.

Snowden is likely a do-gooder who miscalculated. If he's an operative, he's one of ours even if he isn't entirely aware of it.

    Based upon what?

Are you serious? Have you ever read the Constitution of the United States? A history of Common Law?

God help us if a large number of our fellow citizens ever begin to think this way.

Snowden has to prove that he is not an Al Qaeda sympathizer or operative.
Really? He's guilty until proven innocent? He's a terrorist until proven otherwise?

Prove you're not a terrorist. GO.
