Re: France to ban sales of Gold/Silver?
So, with the Swiss capitulating, and now France starts the G20 ban on buying and selling PMs (my best guess), which will soon move to ban ownership of PMs, where in the world is still safe to buy/sell/own PMs? Any western nations left that are not part of the American Oligarchy?

Re: France to ban sales of Gold/Silver?
Certainly makes it hard to discuss silver versus currency in French!Originally posted by *T* View PostI like the way "l'argent" (silver) gets translated as "money".
Perhaps some native French speakers could advise how to discuss these topics in French? Correct me if I'm wrong but the available terms seem to be
"argent" = "silver" or "money" or "currency"
"monnaie" = "cash", "change", or "currency"
"devises" = "currency"
If you wanted to say, "I'm worried about the value of currency, so I am buying silver"?
Presumably not, "Je doute la solidite' de l'argent, alors j'achete de l'argent!"

No. France to ban sales of metals in cash. Not just gold and silver. You can pay with check, wire transfer or card. Payment in cash between two people is allowed, provided that none of them deals in metals professionally.Originally posted by Mega View PostFrance to ban sales of Gold/Silver?

Sure, but isn't the point of that so the government can easily track who has possession of the PMs for later confiscation?Originally posted by tacito View PostNo. France to ban sales of metals in cash. New Zealand's not bad. No sales tax on the sale of pure precious metals. No capital gains tax. No inheritance tax. No gift duties.Originally posted by brent217 View PostSo, with the Swiss capitulating, and now France starts the G20 ban on buying and selling PMs (my best guess), which will soon move to ban ownership of PMs, where in the world is still safe to buy/sell/own PMs? Re: France to ban sales of Gold/Silver?
Well, they're probably just doing it now for records for security purpose (drug trade - terrorism - etc). Once the database is there it does make confiscation quite a bit easier, but I think we're a-ways away from that. But what do I know? Je ne parle pas français.Originally posted by brent217 View PostSure, but isn't the point of that so the government can easily track who has possession of the PMs for later confiscation?

Re: France to ban sales of Gold/Silver?
None of you have "Got it". This is all about stealing cable and selling it for CASH!
see: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukp...15557895A00006
Our village hall being refurbished had a length of new electricity cable delivered one afternoon, by the next morning it had gone.....
If this is occurring here in the UK, you can bet your bottom dollar that France is getting the same thing too. So by banning cash transactions for metals, they put a stop to people selling scrap without being able to trace the transaction.

Correct. That's what the article says. But cable is copper, not gold or silver, so one may wonder what does it mean. I think it's taxes, not confiscation. Well, maybe it's the same thing. :-)Originally posted by Chris Coles View PostNone of you have "Got it". This is all about stealing cable and selling it for CASH!

You mat be correct. This is a wonderful example of being able to say one thing and use the new rule for entirely other reasons.
