February, 1999
Dear iTulip.com Bogus Stock
Certificate Holder,
Geez, here we are, almost half way through the month and I'm just now getting the monthly letter out. And what a month it's been! We've only been online since January 21, less than a month. We're poking along, tweaking up the site, getting our heads together for the product launch February 15 and... WHAMMO! We get air on CNBC on Feb. 9. What did that do to the site? Check out the charts below. We'd been getting a steady 50 - 100 visitors and a few hundred page views a day up until the CNBC plug. Then on Feb. 9 we got 5,000 visitors and 17,000 page views! Our ISP was PO'd, we're here to tell ya. (We got a cheap, low bandwidth commercial account.) Folks have tended to hang out at the site for an average of six minutes and look at 3.6 pages. One thing we noticed, the more folks show up, the longer they stay. We aren't sure why. Maybe CNBC viewers are right in our target audience. We'd look in on the details from time to time and notice that either folks showed up and puked or they hung out for 30 minutes or more. Not much in between. iTulip.com ain't for everyone. So that was exciting. But that's nothing! We got a train of big events and announcements for 1999, starting with the launch of our hot new product on Feb. 15, code-named Dr. Y. We got the Dr. Y press release going out to over 100 humans from the Forth Estate who requested it and also to a bunch of great folks who sent e-mail in to support us. Thanks for all your letters! That's it for now. Sincerely, Arnold Greenspatz
