the other issue the whole ethanol/foodcrops to road fuel ignores is rapidly depleting topsoil resources.
from what i've read, over 90% of the topsoil in the prime ag areas of the midwest have been lost since cultivation of/in the prairies began

and to replace, what - 2% of imported oil, of which 80% is used for road fuel?

dunno about anybody else, but i'd rather use/save the dirt for food than use it up just to be stuck in traffic...
