It’s not governments, environmentalists, or any marginal group that’s responsible for nuclear’s built in limits to adoption.
This argument would perhaps be more credible if literally millions and billions of dollars weren't spent fighting nuclear power plants via NIMBY and various other defensive modes.

In the past decade the reactor industry has spent at least $640 million lobbying for these massive advance bailouts. But since 2007, safe energy advocates have succeeded in keeping them out of the federal budget.
If so much money has been spent by the "pro" nuclear lobby - yet failed to succeed - it is indeed difficult to believe without a concomitant spend on the anti-nuclear lobby side.
