It's friday night here, and the weather sucks....

This is a place for those that are also stuck at home and need a little music to play while reading/catching on the itulip...

I'll start with a tune from the new Muse album "The Resistance" ... it's a little different, not sure how many here like this sort of music.

[Approximate lyrics below embed, song works well with Sapien's threads]

"The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
    The transmissions will resume
    They'll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around

    Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined

    They will not force us
    They will stop degrading us
    They will not control us
    We will be victorious

    Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take it's toll if you could
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die

Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

    They will not force us
    They will stop degrading us
    They will not control us
    We will be victorious

    They will not force us
    They will stop degrading us
    They will not control us
    We will be victorious"

Here's something a little more chilled out....

    "Mr. Dali Lamas
    Another sister's shootin' heroin tomorrow
    Amputees in Freetown
    Sierra Leone's
    The church wasn't honest
The state put the youth in a harness
    Creatin' hostility among us
    The teacher said no college
Still the kid's gotta get a check with a couple commas
    People wanna bomb us
More people gotta scatter and run from us
You can blame it on Zeus and Apollo and Adonis

    But what you've done here
Is put yourself between a bullet and a target
And it won't be long before
    You're pulling yourself away

    But what you've done here
Is put yourself between a bullet and a target
And it won't be long before
    You're pulling yourself away

I've been knowing her for years
I've been seeing her for years
She got dark, dark wavy hair
With a voice like she just don't care
She got a skirt with a halter top
She's got a dad who never gave fuck
She drink a beer with a proper shot
She got knocked up in a pickup truck
But she got engaged when she was nineteen
To this dude who was acting insane
Had a .45 that he always cleaned
Said one day, one day, one too many days
Now she ducked and she ran away
Never to be heard from, never to be seen
I check the cover of a magazine
I'm just wondering how, just wondering how

    But what you've done here
Is put yourself between a bullet and a target
And it won't be long before
    You're pulling yourself away"

All week I've been digging an oldie, the Kinks under Thatcher. Village Green Society, Waterloo Sunset. The England they had known that was melting...melting... away. Interspersed with You Really Got Me. naturally.

          Cool. Music post.

Below is a clip by local artists depicting Quebec's De-Industrialization and the takeover of FIRE and its resulting effects on the real economy:

Also, from them in a very "Quebec Rigodon" style:

                          Re: iTulip Jukebox.

Great Thread thank you - Here is Christy Moore one of Irelands favourite performers singing Ordinary man - I think the words may resonate with many a working man again today - a bit simplified but much truth in it I feel

I'm an ordinary man, nothing special nothing grand
I've had to work for everything I own
I never asked for a lot, I was happy with what I got
Enough to keep my family and my home

Now they say that times are hard and they've handed me my cards
They say there's not the work to go around
And when the whistle blows, the gates will finally close
Tonight they're going to shut this factory down
                          Then they'll tear it d-o-w-n

I never missed a day nor went on strike for better pay
For twenty years I served them best I could
Now with a handshake and a cheque it seems so easy to forget
Loyalty through the bad times and through good
The owner says he's sad to see that things have got so bad
but the captains of industry won't let him lose
He still drives a car and smokes his cigar
And still he takes his family on a cruise, he'll never lose

Well it seems to me such a cruel irony
He's richer now then he ever was before
Now my cheque is spent and I can't afford the rent
There's one law for the rich, one for the poor
Every day I've tried to salvage some of my pride
To find some work so's I might pay my way
Oh but everywhere I go, the answer's always no
There's no work for anyone here today, no work today

                          Break - 1st four lines

And so condemned I stand just an ordinary man
Like thousands beside me in the queue
I watch my darling wife trying to make the best of life
And God knows what the kids are going to do
Now that we are faced with this human waste
                          A generation cast aside
And as long as I live, I never will forgive
You've stripped me of my dignity and pride, you've stripped mebare
You've stripped me bare, You've stripped me bare
