  • Left/Right Politics, Cartoons & Propaganda Bin

For posters who view issues through a political lens and like to insert political commentary into non-political discussions, thereby derailing conversations and driving thoughtful people away...

There are a million self-righteous political forums in the world where you can pat yourself on the back and talk about how bad the other side is. iTulip isn't one of them. If you feel you must post partisan politics, do it here at the kids table so the grownups can talk in peace.

    Thank you.

    Abortion

84% of Americans want late term abortions banned. Of course if the mother's physical health is in danger that could be an exception.

the best way to reduce abortions is to make birth control easier. however, this requires recognition of the reality that people are sexual, and most will not confine their activities to marriage and procreation. this is apparently too great a leap for some.

I'm in. Here's a vid of Cornell West telling way too many uncomfortable truths about HillBill and making young Chris Cuomo long for a commercial break. Calling Hillary the "Milli Vannili of American politics" is inspired! It will be a while before Dr. West shows up on CNN, that's for damn sure.

What do you think you are jk, some kind of doctor?...

          Sorry, I couldn't resist. There's a 10 year old inside me that I can't always control.

Here I thought this thread would be a ghost town. Apologies for sounding cranky in my original post. Hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings.

I know I thought I was done for the day but I ran across this gem. If this doesn't describe the difference between the Dems I don't know what does.

Perhaps, but you just have to love this response to it. If I lived in Kentucky Mary Lou Marzian would get my vote:
State representative's frustration over anti-abortion efforts lead to tongue-in-cheek bill

                      Feb 20, 2016 8:00 AM ET

A Kentucky lawmaker is so fed up with the efforts in her state to restrict access to abortion that she decided to introduce a bill aimed at giving men a taste of their own medicine.

It requires men who want to use erectile dysfunction medicine, such as Viagra or Cialis, to get a written statement of approval from their wife — their current wife.

"They go through wives like water in Kentucky," Democratic Representative Mary Lou Marzian said in an interview with CBC News.

Under the bill, only married men would be allowed to get a prescription and they would have to make a sworn statement with their hand on a Bible that they will only use the medication when having sex with their wife. They would also have to visit a doctor on two separate occasions before getting a prescription.

The Kentucky legislature last week passed a bill that requires women to see a doctor 24 hours before having an abortion. "I was steaming," said Marzian, adding that the new restriction is "insulting, degrading and patronizing." ...

...But she hopes the bill makes people think about the role of government in their health decisions — and about how abortion is a pawn in the political game. She accuses her Republican colleagues of using their anti-abortion views to help themselves get elected; she says that's why they are constantly introducing bills on the subject.

Marzian believes their efforts are hypocritical. "These Republicans say they want less government — until it comes to your uterus. Then they want more," she said...

                        Clearly a 2nd Amendment issue.

Re: Left/Right Politics, Cartoons & Propaganda Bin

I feel most Americans support the right to have an abortion as well as access for all to birth control.

The GOP platform to forbid abortion will never fly and it's hard to believe they even try stop it.

However there is huge support to forbid late term abortions. It is settled science that a fetus can feel pain in the 28th week.

                          http://discovermagazine.com/2005/dec/fetus-feel-pain

So it makes sense to forbid abortions in the last two months of gestation, except where the physical health of the mother is threatened. A woman has a right to abortion, but also a responsibility to get it done early in the pregnancy.

The extreme positions on both ends of the abortion issue, forbidding it by the Republicans and allowing at always by the Democrats are fully outside the mainstream of American voters.

What thoughts do readers of this thread have on this? Agree or any other observations?

So you'll vote for all Democratic candidates. Good to know. Post that here without some BS back track.

Good politics is the art of constructive compromise.

The USA elected officials seem to have long ago lost the ability to execute good politics.
