  • foreclosure removed from credit report because of fraud?

You know, it occurred to me that since the mortgage companies engaged in fraudulent foreclosures and loans, why do I have this foreclosure still staining my credit report?

I was thinking of disputing the item with each of the credit reporting agencies. I think to ask them to prove it is an accurate entry. Perhaps there is a chance the banks involved will be slow to reply? And if they do, I can send several of the court documents and settlement paper showing it was fraudulent. I just want it removed, much as you would want the identity thief's purchases removed from your record.

I cannot believe this has not already been tried. And, if so, was a lawsuit filed that got squashed?

    Thoughts?

A great resource (at least it used to be) for credit and other consumer disputes is http://www.debtorboards.com/

This was started by one of the refugees from the artofcredit forum.

Another resource is the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) at http://www.nclc.org/

Their publications on FCRA, FDCPA laws and pleadings are considered superb textbooks for the aspiring pro se litigant.
