    Like the Nosferatu legend, it's lurking in the shadows. So few lack the imagination to grasp the implications .....

      This is a non issue at the moment but it will come back with a vengeance. I have no doubt about it.

      The only thing that will keep it down is a prolong economic slow down, which certainly looks to be highly likely.

        I'm not sure what so exciting - it is no secret that the oil producers themselves are greatly increasing their energy use. After all, it is relatively cheap for internal consumption.

        As for implications for the future - it has been noted before (EJ?) that the economic result will hinge on 5 families using 1 barrel of oil to make a living via riding a 2-stroke scooter vs. the soccer mom in the Expedition, or the export surplus nation subsidizing oil vs. the trade deficit nation with a reserve currency going off reserve status.
