What's with the 666?

Probably the most asked question about me is: "What's with the 666? Are you a devotee of the Dark Lord or something?"
Well, it goes something like this. Long ago, I did lots of travel (including international). At the time, one of the few providers (and this was the dialup days) that had both domestic and international lines was AOL. So I had to get an AOL account.
I tried about twenty different (and unusual I thought) combinations -- all rejected. The system kept suggesting jpatter742.
So, in a bout of frustration, I shouted "AOL is a work of the devil! *I'll* give you an appropriate name!" -- and typed in jpatter666.
Now in this semi-deluded state, I figured the name would get rejected. Everything up to 742 was taken, right?
Of course not -- it was accepted and that was now my login name.
In time, I realized that the name was so unusual, it was always available, so I started using it as a nom-de-plume.
So that's the story, and if you were thinking I'm secretly holding Black Masses in expectation of the collapse of society and weekly virgin sacrifices, sorry to disappoint. :rolleyes:
