Shouldn't that be "FRED Alert!......FRED Alert!"? ;)

Will be interesting to see if true -- certainly SRS and FAZ spiked today.

The article you link to states "Jim Willie of the Hat trick Newsletter has just sent an urgent message..."

However I subscribe to this newsletter, and I have received no such message, nor do I see mention of such in his members-only web site.

Perhaps I am missing something?

Aha - now I have it from my Jim Willie subscription. Perhaps I have the day late, dollar cheaper, cheapskate subscription or something.

In any case, Jim wrote, in part:

BULLETIN: An event took place ... An overnight inter-bank loan ... failed. It was large, like between $10 and $30 billion. Major ripple effects are certain. Repeats to this event are very likely, since not an isolated situation. ... <st1:city w:st="on"><st1>The failure was compared to a sewage block, one that would force feces backward into the banking system with a possible explosion soon. ...</st1></st1:city><st1:city w:st="on"><st1> </st1></st1:city>

Elsewhere in his monthly newsletter, Jim Willie details the corruption in America's banks and Treasury. It's a long letter. The depth and extent and variety of the fraud is awesome is in its scope.

I'm glad I retired from my 30 year career in software last year. This gives me almost full time to watch this unfolding disaster. We're nowhere near done the excitement . It's better than having a Game 7 between the Celtics and the Lakers on one channel at the same time that Jack Bauer is surviving another harrowing 24 hours on the other channel.

Just coughed up game 6 to Orlando. Won't get by Cleveland without KG though if/when they win game 7 Sunday night.

According to other blogs, this (http://www.mffais.com/124929) indicates that Credit Suisse sold a lot of things on 15.05.2009

Can't believe Boston came up so weak at home in game 7.

Frankl,

Have you followed the MFFAIS site for very long? The giant Credit Suisse stockholding dump looks ominous.

Unless it is them dumping their asset management division - and the divestiture being the switchover of said assets being managed.

I dumped the 5/15 data onto Excel and the total is almost 1.4B shares sold - in 2,785 different companies.

as my sig says, I have little clue (pun intended) about these things. I'm here to get some basic understanding and more specifically which kinds of economic theory not to take too seriously :)

So are you saying Credit Suisse is up to something?

Frank,

Took me a while to import to Excel, but the total number of shares sold according to MFFAIS by Credit Suisse on 5/15 is nearly 1.4 billion shares.

That's quite a lot.

If the movement is due to CS spinning/selling a division, that I can see.

If it is a divestiture to raise cash - where was the market reaction?

Hence my question.
