This is probably not the correct place to ask, but I have recently inherited an antique gold coin that is supposed to valuable, they call it Akbari Mohor, and I guess a coin from the Indian King Akbar.

I've looked up some valuation sites on internet, but not seen any Indian coins there. Anybody here wwho has any idea where to look, or better yet, who has heard about Akbari Mohor and can give an estimate?

LOL, thats kind of disappointing. Is a 500 year old gold coin really not worth more than that!?

IS, what does the Akbari weigh?

According to the site, 12.09 grams. So if it's pure, you have $340 of gold and $437 of history. I doubt it's pure.

Unfortunately it sounds like Antique Road Show fodder. If I owned one, it would be a chance for a little face time. not being a competitive dancer ;)

Thanks for the info (and well said), GE. For my tastes, if it's gold I want, I like Maples and Krugs. For history, I'll buy War and Peace.
