I was playing last night with some silver thoughts and charted a conjecture... and you know how painful that can be... ;-)

So who plays the role of the hunt brothers this time around?

Asians?
Hedge funds?
Middle easterners?
None of the above?
All of the above?

Note that I just updated the graph to cover the '73-74 period too.

bart,

why not plot the 8/15 to now line against the left axis?

it looks as if it would fit almost exactly on top of the other two curves.

Done deal, not quite as dramatic though.

bart, that's really really cool.

It gives me an interesting idea for a computer science problem (I am a comp sci major, btw) ... basically taking charts and measuring how often it follows patterns and even showing those patterns.

It would be interesting to see if certain charted assets (or whatever) are more 'patternized' (oh there is probably a good math term for that) versus one that is random.

It would be even interesting to wonder if that is a measure of a market that is efficient versus one that is inefficient (I am a big believer in EMT, btw).

I suspect this is a well studied problem, of course. If anyone has any terms I can google on this, I'd appreciate it.
