Just a note: The audio file is 54 minutes long, EJ's interview part starts around the 20 minute mark. (just so you don't waste 20 minutes going through the rest of the chatter, most of which we are already well-informed about.) Eric's part goes for about 30 minutes or so.

As a follow up question from the one I asked on the radio.
Will government incentives for alt energy and infrastructure be put in place this year or will we have to wait for a new administration 09 to get a clear policy direction?
I think the public is ready for next bubble incentives, but what about our politicians representing the corporation’s best interest are they ready to draft legislation?

EJ writes in:
Bill,

I don't expect Alt Energy and Infrastructure economic development to be part of the short term stimulus plan. For it to go forward, many entrenched interests that have been holding back new energy infrastructure development for at least a decade or more need to decline politically. The economic crash which has begun is leading to that, but is not likely to act as a forcing function for change this year. Far more pain has to be experienced. Think of the '09 administration as the new management of USA, Inc. with a mandate to do whatever is necessary to get the economy moving again. Think FDR in 1933 but not quite to that extreme, I hope, and without the heavy handed anti-market political backlash and policy bias.

Thanks for the call.

EJ

this comment really got me going. world's full of ideologues and demagogues and self-promoting ranters selling their bear fund or gold or guns or canned food and all that shit. you can tell the hacks by counting the number of times they use the word "i" in an interview. my take is... ej tells you what is going to happen, when and why. if you want to listen to the anti-cramers and guys ranting and raving the flip side of the msm story, there's plenty of those guys out there.

when the shit really hits the fan, i hope it's not just these guys using ideology masquerading as "economics" and such... all good guys and bad guys and pragmatism thrown out the window and the capitalism baby with the klepto-capitalism bathwater. at this rate, guys like schiff will find themselves on the same side of the fence as the socialists and protectionists and racists and bigots who will mount a mighty comeback as the political shitstorm grows... feeding off the anger and dissolution and disappointment.

maybe ej's staking out more independent turf. i hope so. we're going to need someone with integrity fighting for capitalism and trade when most of the other guys left to do it are either in prison or on the run.

my suggestion to you, mike... want to be entertained and learn nothing except things ej said 10 years ago? don't listen to ej. listen to these other guys. i sure hope he doesn't take your "advice." i wish he'd do more interviews, tho.

and another thing... just came across this from thisislondon.co.uk (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23433561-details/Goth+taken+for+walks+on+a+leash+banned+from+bus+by +driver+who+says+%27no+dogs+allowed%27/article.do) and after reading it think you guys are running my kind of country. maybe i'll move there. good beer, young folks living on the dole and raising families... and this after years of "conservative" administration. i'm there. where's the best place for me to start looking for a flat?

Going walkies: Dani Graves and girlfriend Tasha Maltby were allegedly barred from a bus

"It is definitely discrimination, almost like a hate crime," 19-year-old Miss Maltby said yesterday.

The music technology student had this defence of her lifestyle.

"I am a pet, I generally act animal like and I lead a really easy life," she said.

The couple, who live on benefits in a council house and plan to start a family, have been friends for years.

They started going out together in July and became engaged in November.

How's this for entertaining (http://www.podfeed.net/episode/This+Is+Hell+-+January+26+2008/1059290#)? Get past the goofy start and listen to the EJ interview. To hear the "meat" of the show, if that is the word, skip 8:00 minutes in.
